HAYS - Hays High School held their annual Senior Awards Night Monday at the Hays High Performing Arts Center.
Annie Humphrey and Zoe Winter were named the Jack Roberts Outstanding Female of the Year while Jaxson Chartier was the Swim, Carpenter, Smith Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year.
The female award is named in honor of former HHS principal Jack Roberts who was a strong advocate of athletics for young women and did much to advance and promote this cause.
The male award is named in honor of three former Hays High students who were tragically killed in a car accident during their sophomore year.
The Debbie Brungardt Fan of the Year is named in honor of a former HHS student who lived her life with a physical disability, but attended nearly every event that involved the Hays High Indians. This award is selected by the coaches and is presented to an adult community fan, a student fan and a USD 489 faculty/staff member.
