
Richard 'Dick' Leiker, 83, of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on June 25, 2025. In his home with his loving wife Lydia of 30 years at his side. He was born June 21, 1942 in Hays, Kansas to Richard and Mary (Braun) Leiker.
Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays, KS. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be 9:30 until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc., where Dick spent time, weekly, surrounded by dedicated professionals that thrive to care for those living with Alzheimer’s and support their families. Dick graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy in 1960 and attended Ft. Hays University.
He never met a stranger, and he spent his working years in sales, both in retail and as an executive in corporate supplies.
At a young man his interest was in cars. He worked various jobs to purchase and maintain them. They were always cleaned and shined. One would always find a “chamois” in the trunk. His habit continued throughout his life.
His pride and joy were his golf clubs, golfing, golfers, golf magazines, golf shirts, golf pants and golf balls.
He often referred to his golf clubs as his “ WEAPONS”. He and Lydia were fans of KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed working in his yard and planting flowers Dick will be remembered by his gentleman’s wardrobe.
He is survived by his wife Lydia (Ralph) Leiker, his children, Gina MacConnell (Matt), Ryan Leiker (Tamara). Stepchildren Catrina Massey (Paul) of Colorado Springs, Co, Monica (Michael) Cohen and Sonja Price both of Seattle, WA. His siblings Doris (Leiker) Ebersole, Robert (Jill) Leiker, of Kansas City, Ks. Dick enjoyed talking about his 19 grandchildren who would say “show me some money”.
He is survived by 2 nephews, many loving in-laws, and a host of friends and caregivers. Dick was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law. Robert Ebersole and Steve Ralph.
He would want all who are bereaving to rely on your faith as a source of comfort and the memory of his life to live as a blessing. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
