John Feeney

John Feeney, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2021,  at Cedar Village Care Center, Ness City, KS.  He was born on December 9, 1935, in Washington, D.C. the son of John Feeney, Sr. and Myra (Richardson) Feeney.  He graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School. After high school he trained as an Electrical Draftsman where he used his skills working at Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission where he worked until September 1963. 

John served his country in the Army National Guard Reserves from 1957 to 1962 in the 140th Engineer Bn DCNG (DC national guard) as an SP5 E5. 

In October 1963, John moved to Ness City, Kansas, where we went to work with his father-in-law (Joe Petersilie) as a contract oil well pumper until he retired in 2006. 

He was member of the United Methodist Church, Ness City, KS.

On June 24, 1961, he married Jo Ann Petersilie in Ness City, Kansas.  They moved from Takoma Park, Maryland to Ness City, Kansas in 1963 where they made their home on the farm.

John and Jo Ann celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary this past June.

John is survived by his wife Jo Ann of Ness City; daughters, Shannon Feeney of Ness City and Robin Pierson of Blue Springs, Missouri; one granddaughter Regan Pierson also of Blue Springs, Missouri; and his sister Ann Feeney of Ness City. 

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Myra Feeney. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18th from 5 -7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2021 at the United Methodist Church, Ness City at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be at Ness City Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Humane Society, Dodge City, the Animal Shelter in Dodge City or the United Methodist Church, Ness City.
