PARKER, COLORADO – The Gameday Saints scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning Thursday against the Hays Larks and held on for the 6-4 win Thursday in Parker Colorado.
Corbin Truslow gave the Larks a 3-0 first inning lead with a three-run homerun, his second homerun of the season.
But the lead was short-lived as the Saints answered with a four-run bottom of the inning taking a 4-3 lead.
Hays starter Landon Shirer struck out the first two hitters he faced but allowed a two-out single and three straight walks, the last with the bases loaded making it 3-1 Hays. In the next at bat the Saints scored three runs on a Brayden Luft single putting the Saints up 4-3. They never trailed again.
Shirer allowed five runs and walked four and a third innings in four while striking out six and suffered the loss.
Truslow was two-for-four with three RBI’s and Cameron Peherson was two-for-four and scored a run. They combined to collect four of the Larks seven hits.
Hays has dropped two straight and are 12-6 on the season. The two teams will wrap up the two-game series tonight in Parker.
