
Hays Fire Dept.
On June 15, 2023, approximately 3:58 p.m. the Hays Fire Department responded to 2010 Vine Street, Northglen Antiques, in Hays for a reported building fire.
Upon arrival fire crews found smoke in the back of the building and located the fire in the furnace room. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and searched for extension.
Crews stayed on scene to ventilate the smoke out of the building.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was accidental and caused by electrical wiring.
The Hays Fire Department would like to remind everyone that when using electrical extension cords to make sure they are safe to use and are not overloaded with electrical appliances.
The Hays Fire Department also would like to remind everyone to check smoke and CO alarms to make sure they are functioning correctly.
