Dale Eugene Appl, age 90, passed away on April 29, 2023, at his home in Leoti, Kansas. He was born on May 3, 1932, to Martinus and Violet (Elder) Appl in Leoti, Kansas.
He was a farmer and rancher as well as a past member of the Leoti Lions Club and the Antique Car Club. He loved farming as much as he loved flying and showing everyone his farm from the air. Anyone who knew him knew that he was both candid and ornery.
On March 30, 1952, Dale Married Dorothea J. (Van Winkle) Appl in Dodge City. She survives.
Dale is survived by his wife, three daughters, Julie Carpenter of Leoti, Kansas, Trish Brunswig of WaKeeney, Kansas, Kathy Graff of Neodesha, Kansas, seven grandchildren Cole and Bridgette Carpenter, Shala and Kevan Steele, Tyler and Cheyann McClayland, Lacey and Alex Detwiler, Cara and Josh Gunderson, Ty and Courtney Brunswig, Tia and Logan Mattheyer, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Katheryn Taylor, brother Keith Appl, and son-in-law Charlie Carpenter.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with Mike Deschner presiding. Burial will follow at the Leoti Cemetery.
Visitation will be on May 2, 2023, from 12:00 until 8:00 p.m. and May 3, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Price and Sons Funeral home at 4th and J St. in Leoti, Kansas.
