Angeline Marie “Angie” Green, 96, of Russell, Kansas, died surrounded by her loved ones, on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.
Angie was born on July 03,1928, in Russell County, Kansas, the daughter of David C. and Amelia (Ehrlich) Ehrlich. She grew up on the family farm east of Russell and attended rural Russell County schools. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Everett James Green on April 20, 1962, in Hastings, Nebraska. From this union Angie and Everett were blessed with two children, Lionel and Gwenna. Angie enjoyed being a full-time wife, mother and homemaker while her children were young. Later in life she worked as a hostess with Gutierrez Restaurant in Russell for many years. Angie was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. She was most passionate about working as a senior companion for 22 years working with the elderly. She was also on the Senior Companion Advisory Board for many years and in 2008, received the Volunteer of the year award. She enjoyed helping elderly residents at Wheatland Nursing Center for many years. She loved spending time with her dogs and walking them, preparing Sunday dinners for her family, cooking and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
The surviving family includes her son Lionel Green and Gwenna Green and fiancé Roger Podlena all of Russell, Kansas; sister in-law Twyla Ehrlich of Russell, Kansas; nieces Tori Hall and husband Roy of Russell, Kansas and Tami Ehrlich of Manhattan, Kansas; great niece Halle Anderson and husband Colton of Russell, Kansas; and her beloved dog Poppi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Everett on February 17, 1997, and brother Dale Ehrlich.
Cremation has been selected by the family and a memorial service to celebrate Angie’s life will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, December 02, 2024, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. Family will greet guests from 1 P.M. to service time and after the service on Monday, December 2nd. The family has requested memorials be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Russell, Kansas, and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
