Beulah B. Johnson

Beulah B. Johnson was born to Charles A.  & Agnes L. (Hawks) Bertholf on November 5, 1923, in the Bow Creek area of rural Kirwin, KS.  She passed away on September 9, 2021, at the Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, KS at the age of 97.

She grew up in the Kirwin area & graduated from Kirwin High School.  Beulah worked several years at various jobs.   On August 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Floyd “Joe” Johnson at the Congregational Church in Smith Center, KS.  After marriage, she worked as a secretary for the Department of Agriculture for 12 years.  Because of Joe’s jobs, they lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado & Washington. They were living in Grand Coulee, WA when Joe retired in December of 1974.  The couple then returned to Kirwin to make their home.  Joe passed away on February 16, 1994.  After a few years, Beulah moved to Phillipsburg.

Beulah enjoyed the outdoors, she and Joe took several fishing trips to Minnesota.  She had fond memories of clam digging and salmon fishing while they lived in Washington.  Her family & friends meant much to her & she loved attending family functions & visiting with & helping friends. 

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, 2 brothers; Wayne Bertholf & wife Wanda & Charles Bertholf & wife Marilyn & her nephews Keith & Phil Bertholf.

She leaves to mourn her passing, 5 nephews & their families, many nieces & nephews in the Johnson family as well as many cousins & friends.

Cremation was chosen.  Private family services were held Sat. Sept. 25 at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor Blake Stanwood officiating.  Inurnment was in the Kirwin Cemetery.
