UPDATE: Three dogs rescued from house fire Sunday

Hays Fire Department

On November 28th approximately 2:40 p.m. Hays Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire of a residence located at 308 W 39th.

Firefighters found that a fire started outside of the home in the backyard.

The fire progressed to the rear of the house and deck. Fire was found in the attic space and ground level room of the home.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire, but firefighters did successfully rescue three dogs from the fire.

The cause of the fire is deemed undetermined at this time.

The Hays Fire Department, Ellis County Fire Department Company 5, City of Ellis Fire Department, City of Victoria Fire Department, Ellis County EMS, and Hays Police Department all responded.

The Hays Fire Department would like to remind everyone to check smoke and CO alarms to make sure they are functioning correctly.

At around 2:45 p.m. Sunday the Hays Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire on the 300 block of West 39th St.

Emergency responders found an active fire in a home.

Significant damage was variable as fire poured from the roof as crews secured the scene and worked to extinguish the fire.
