Barbara Kay (VonFeldt) Kisner

Barbara Kay (VonFeldt) Kisner, age 74, of Hays, Kansas, died Monday, September 21, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.  She was born September 22, 1945, in Hays, Kansas, to William B. and Clara (Windholz) VonFeldt.   She married Jon F. Kisner on September 4, 1970, in Victoria, Kansas, and have now celebrated 50 years of marriage.

She was a homemaker, a price coordinator at Foods Bonanza for 12 years until they closed, cooked at TMP-Marian High School, and worked at the HMC Cancer Center.

She grew up in Victoria, Kansas, and was a 1963 graduate of Victoria High School.  While living in Victoria, she was the children’s choir director at St. Fidelis Catholic Church for many years.  Barbara and Jon lived to Hays since 1985 then moved to Texas for four years and again back to Hays in 2016. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas, and St. Fidelis Daughters of Isabella.  Singing was an important part of Barbara’s life.  She, along with Jon, sang for all occasions in Victoria for many years.  Barbara enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home, and had a special touch for decorating for all the holidays.

Survivors include her husband, Jon F. Kisner, of the home; one son, Curtis Kisner and wife, Michelle, Keller, TX; two daughters, Tonya Kisner, Leavenworth, KS; Simone Anderson and husband, Christian, Keller, TX; three granddaughters, Aubrianna Kisner, Cadence Anderson, Carmyn Anderson; one sister-in-law, Janell Newton and husband, Gary, Wichita, KS; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Karlin, Hays, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas and inurnment will be at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

A Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 9:45 A.M. Saturday, at the church.    

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Basilica of St. Fidelis in care of the mortuary.
