👟 Plainville boys, Ellis girls win Stanton County regional, TMP girls second

JOHNSON CITY, Kan. – The Plainville boys and Ellis girls won the team titles at the Stanton County 2A Track and Field Regional Friday. The Cardinal boys scored 88 points, 22 more than Hoxie and Meade who tied for second. The Railer girls scored 73 1/2 points, 8 1/2 better than second place TMP-Marian.

The Ellis girls qualified seven individuals and two relays. Natalee North won the discus (120-0) and placed second in the shot put (37-4). Isabella Eick was second in the high jump (5-2). Mackenna Kohl was second in the 800 meters (2:30.71), one, one-hundredth of a second ahead of teammate Avery Boydston who placed third (2:30.72). Boydston was also third in the 1600 meters (5:28.91). Emily Eck placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:01.04). Madi Russell finished fourth in the 3200 meters (12:24.22). Addison Kohl was third in the 100 hurdles (17.17). Kylee Pfeifer placed third in the 300 hurdles (49.58). The 4x800 relay team finished first (10:23.98).

The Railer boys qualified two. Mason Younger won the pole vault (12-0) and Rex Johnson finished first in the javelin (168-0).

The Monarch girls had five qualified for next week’s state meet in nine events as well as the 4x100 meter relay which placed second (52.34). Emma Basgall finished second in the 100 meters (13.19) and placed fourth in the pole vault (8-0). Shalee Gottschalk won the 100 hurdles (16.00) was second in the triple jump (34-11) and placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (50.81). Shyanne Yost finished third in the high jump (5-0).
Ashley Seib was fourth in the high jump (4-10). Anna Cappuccio finished third in the pole vault (9-0).

Carson Liles was the only Monarch boy to qualify for state after finishing third in the pole vault (11-0).

The Plainville girls had two first place finishes. Gracie Kerns won the triple jump (36-1.75) and they won the 4x100 relay. Jada Rathburn placed third in the 200 (27.58) and was fourth in the 100 (13.31). Zoe Brown was second in the 200 (27.57).

The Cardinal boys also won two events. Braylon Bittel the discus (161-11) and A.J Brown the 110 hurdles (16.26). Brown finished second in the 300 hurdles (42.95) and Bittel was third in the shot put (46-3.5). Carter Cellmer placed second in the 200 (23.48), the long jump (21-0.5) and triple jump (42-10.5).

Trego boys and girls both qualified three. Tegan Lang was second in the girls 100 hurdles (17.14). Myah Mattheyer third in the triple jump (109-8) and Annabelle Malsam third in the discus (109-8) and fourth in the javelin (114-6). Gunner Wilson qualified in three events, He won the triple jump (43-7) and the 400 (50.67) and placed third in the 200 (23.54). Jeremiah Tkatch finished second in the high jump (5-10).
Owen Day placed fourth in the javelin (157-2).

Hill City qualified two. Ryenn Cooper finished second in the girls javelin (115-4) and Kaleb Atkins placed third in the boys long jump (20-7.25).
