Kansas Rural Water Association
SENECA — Tessa Scheck with the City of Hays received a special recognition award for her service to the city. The award was announced during the Kansas Rural Water Association’s 57th Annual Conference & Exhibition, held March 24 – 26 at Century II Convention Center in downtown Wichita, attended by more than 2,400 people.
Scheck is the administrative assistant for the Department of Water Resources for the City of Hays. Scheck helps the Divisions of Water, Water Reclamation, Maintenance, Conservation and the R9 project for Hays, which will bring water from Edwards County more than 70 miles south of the city. She is vital to each program, ensuring that all the smaller details are covered and completed to keep the major projects moving.
Scheck’s supervisor, Jeff Crispin, says “She is the glue that holds us together, the grease needed to make things happen. She is a counselor, a friend to many, an awesome assistant, and a darn good person all the way around."
Scheck supports the operations of five municipal divisions and their 30 employees and she has provided this support system for more than 26 years. When people talk about institutional knowledge, Scheck embodies what that means. Not much happens on the municipal side in this rapidly growing city without her involvement.

The association provides training and technical assistance to water and wastewater utilities statewide.
