Joey Lee Bevitt, 65, Rush Center, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home.
Joey was born November 22, 1959, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Merten Bevitt and Valta (Ochs) Dreher. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1978 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, he was a truck driver for the Rush County Highway Department for over 40 years.
He was a volunteer firefighter for Rush County Fire District #3, Rush Center, Kansas.
Joey enjoyed collecting John Deere toy tractors and loved to socialize.
Survivors include: one son, Joseph Eller, Luray, Kansas; his mother, Valta Dreher, Ness City, Kansas; his step mother, Mary Bevitt, Shawnee, Kansas; three brothers, Scott Bevitt, Shawnee, Kansas, Kevin Bevitt, Shawnee, Kansas, and Jeff Bevitt (Jennifer), Shawnee, Kansas; three sisters, Sherry Gill (John), La Crosse, Kansas, Sally Bevitt, La Crosse, Kansas, and Brenda Frei (Nicholas), Lenexa, Kansas; and numerous nieces, and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Per Joey’s wishes, his family has chosen cremation.
Joey’s family is hosting a celebration of his life Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:30 A.M. at St. Michael’s Parish Center, La Crosse, Kansas, followed by a luncheon. Please join them and share your memories of Joey.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to Rush County Fire District #3, Rush Center, Kansas.
