👟 Tiger throwers compete on day two of Grizzly Gold Invite

EL DORADO, Kan. - Throwers from the Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the weekend Saturday (April 11) at the Grizzly Gold Invite, earning five podium finishes and surpassing one national qualifying mark.

Emma Slade won the hammer throw with a national-qualifying heave of 181-11 on her first attempt, second-best at FHSU during the DII and currently 12th in Division II this season. It was Slade's second national qualifying toss of the weekend after she tied her own school record in the discus on Friday (162-9).

Natalee North finished second in the shot put with a top toss of 42-8.5 on her second attempt, ranking eight on the FHSU DII era performance chart.

Liberty Booker finished in third place in both the shot put (42-3.5) and the hammer throw (170-7).

Guy Tubbs also finished third in the men's javelin, recording a top mark of 188-9 on his first attempt of the day.

With just two weekends remaining in the regular season, the Tigers will be back in action next weekend (April 16-18) with some student-athletes heading to Azusa, Calif. for the Bryan Clay Invitational and others traveling to Kearney, Neb. for the Loper Invitational.
