Above is Midwest Energy's power outage map as of 4:35 p.m. today.

Nearly 20,000 people were reported without power by Midwest Energy around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. 

Over 8,100 customers were reported without power in the city of Hays.

More than 5,500 Midwest Energy customers in Hays were without power as of about 2 p.m. today. For Midwest Energy customers, to report an outage or gas emergency, call 1-800-222-3121.

Hays scanner reports indicated isolated power pole and line damage in the city.

Isolated power outages are also reported in the the city.

Some traffic lights are also being reported to be out of order in Hays.

The National Weather Service is forecasting widespread blowing dust, mainly after 1 p.m. today.  South winds are forecast to be 40 to 45 mph increasing to 50 to 55 mph. Winds could gust as high as 75 mph.
