Duane Daniel Kriegshauser, 62, of Colby, KS, passed away at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby, on August 3, 2025, with his wife Kelly by his side.
Duane was born in Edina, MO, on August 9, 1962, to Daniel and Jacqueline (Clark) Kriegshauser. He was the youngest of six children, he grew up knowing the value of hard work and the importance of family.
After high school, Duane attended college at Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville, MO, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Agronomy and Animal Science. During college, Duane completed a summer internship in Kansas. After graduating from college, he returned to Kansas and has been calling it home for the last 40 years.
Duane and Kelly Mariman met in Colby in the summer of 1994 and were married on November 24, 1995, in Vail, CO. Duane was Kelly’s best friend. They did everything together, making great memories. They did not have any children but were blessed with many nieces and nephews that they enjoyed spending time with.
Duane worked in the agriculture field for most of his career. In 2005, Duane decided to start his own company, Spray Mark Foam Positioning System. Duane applied and received multiple utility and design patents for his foam marking system. Duane enjoyed building sprayers, selling them and teaching others how to spray.
In the last few years, Duane was semi-retired. Still building and selling his foam marking system, he also worked part-time jobs that he really enjoyed. This allowed him time to do the many things he loved. Duane enjoyed doing anything outdoors. He spent time fishing, hunting, working in the yard, feeding his squirrels and cooking outdoors. Duane loved riding his 3-wheeler and had recently purchased a utility tractor, which he used for everything.
Duane and Kelly were fortunate enough to get to travel to many places across the United States throughout their marriage. Duane was always willing to try new things. They spent time with friends and family. Wherever Duane went, he would start up conversations with anyone, he never knew a stranger.
Duane will be remembered by his smile, the clothes he wore (khaki shorts and plaid shirts), listening to music and riding his motorcycle. There were days he got to ride for hours. He passes away doing what he loved.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas Kriegshauser.
He is survived by his wife Kelly; siblings, David (Sherry) Kriegshauser, Judy (Mark) Blacksmith, Margie (Robert) Pfannistiel and Joyce (John) Miller; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
