HAYS - The Hays High and TMP-Marian girls golf teams opened their respective seasons Monday at the Hays High Invitational under ideal conditions at Smoky Hill Country Club.
The Monarchs placed third and the Indians fourth. Garden City won the team title by 11 strokes over second place Goodland.
TMP-Marian’s Brynn Schoepf led the local golfers with an 84 and placed fifth. Hays High's Ava Erbert shot a 91 and finished eighth.
Goodland’s Allison Cure defeated Garden City’s Brooke Savolt on the third hole of a playoff to win the individual title. Both had rounds of 79 in regulation.
