Lori Denise Dykes Morris

Lori Denise Dykes Morris, 58, of Colby, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Aurora, CO at UC Health Center. She was born on February 15, 1966, in St. Paul, MN, to Bill E. and Theresa (Hipp) Dykes and was the youngest of 11 kids. Lori graduated from Great Bend High School in 1984 and married Timothy Morris on May 10, 1986, at St. Rose of Lima Church, in Great Bend.

Lori’s first job was working at a Dairy Queen and then she was a checker at Dillons and worked in the pharmacy. She had also worked for Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs. For a time, Lori stayed home, and home schooled the kids. She also served as a pastor’s wife and worked in many ministry roles over the years. She then went to work as the administrative assistant at College Drive Assembly of God Church, in Colby, for over ten years.

Lori was a people person and mother to many and especially loved to make people laugh. She loved spending time outdoors, going on walks, planting flowers and taking care of her plants. She loved the mountains, listening to music, and going for drives, especially in her Jeep Wrangler. Her and Tim loved to fish, and Lori usually out fished him. Lori was always praying for others and enjoyed participating in Bible studies and women’s groups. She was a great homemaker and people especially loved her banana bread and cheesecake. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandson, great-niece, great-nephew, and grand dog (who called her Lollie).

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Phil Carlson, and sisters Dana Dykes and Tina Alonzo.

She is survived by her husband Tim; children, Natalie (Jordan) Klima, of Hays and Caleb (Breanna) Morris, of Colby; grandson, Elijah Dirks and two more grandchildren on way; brothers, Mark Dykes of Blaine, MN, Jeff ( Carol) Dykes of Centennial, CO; Luke ( Renee) Dykes, of Great Bend, Gary Dykes, of Great Bend, and Matt (Tami) Dykes, of Great Bend and sisters, Lois Dominguez of Great Bend, Gail (Carl) Cooper, of Great Bend and Jane (Edward) Maresch, of Salina. She also left behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A reception of family and friends will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. A Celebration of Life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Heartland Christian School, Colby with a meal to follow for all attendees. Casual dress is encouraged but attendees are welcome to wear what they’re comfortable in.
