The Hays USD 489 school board will hear a report from its architect, DLR, and the building and grounds department about renovating the current Hays High School into a middle school.
Hays High staff are already preparing for the move into the new high school building, which is set to be completed in August.
Work will begin soon on the current high school to renovate it into a middle school. Middle school students and staff are set to move into their new building in January 2026.
The current middle school will be converted into a new elementary school.
Change order
The board will also hear a request for a $59,449 change order on the new high school project.
The board will consider the renewal of a five-year lease agreement with Sumner One for print management, copy machines, support and maintenance for $63,049 per year.
They will also hear a report on the district hiring process.
