Following several consecutive 80-degree sunny days in Hays, the bottom fell out of the thermometer and snow fell out of the sky Wednesday.
According to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Center, Hays received 0.51 inches of moisture, a mix of big snowflakes early on and then rain.
The high temperature April 7 was 46 degrees, 38 degrees cooler than the day before when the mercury reached 84 degrees.
At 6.01 inches, Hays is about an inch and a half above normal moisture for the year. The 152-year cumulative average accumulation by the end of April is 4.61 inches.
The three-day weather forecast calls for sunshine through Saturday.
