Velda Valjean Grammon

Velda Valjean Grammon, daughter of Oliver and Hazel (Buttermore) Campbell was born November 4, 1929, in Bloomington, Nebraska, and passed away on July 19, 2020, at the Logan Manor, at the age of 90.

She attended school in Smith Center, Kansas, and graduated from Smith Center High School.  Velda was a waitress at a café in Smith Center where she met Ward Keith Grammon.  They were married on September 17, 1953, in Smith Center, Kansas.  To this union four children were born: Roger, Paul, Beverly and Larry.

The family moved to Logan in 1962.  Velda was a book keeper for her husband’s business along with being a homemaker.  She loved crocheting, making quilts, reading, crossword puzzles and making some of the best pies and apple dumplings.

She was a member of the Logan Christian Church.

Velda and Keith were fortunate to be able to celebrate 63 years of marriage together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith, brothers Warren, Dale, Marvin and Doyt Campbell, twin brother Eldon Campbell, sister Leola Johnson and great grandson Ethan Hockman.

Survivors include her children, Roger, Paul and wife Debra Grammon all of Logan, Beverly and husband Bob Hockman of Salina, and Larry and wife Rose of Canon City, CO; nine grandchildren, Wayne (Valorie) Grammon, Greg (Shannon) Grammon, Ward Grammon, Mathew Hockman, April Hockman (Steven Ralph), Devin Grammon, Heather (Leslie) Lewis, Ryan (Dana) Grammon and Michelle Shannon; eight great-grandchildren, Kendra Grammon, Aaron Grammon, Janelle Grammon, Cadence Lewis, Kealan Lewis, Anthony Grammon, Clay Grammon and Akira Grammon; as well as two special nieces, Cathy Winters and Sheila (Randy) Stocker.

Cremation was planned.  A private memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 in the Logan Christian Church with Pastor Troy Buss officiating.  The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel FaceBook page.  Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
