🥎 Monarchs offense leads the way in sweep of Ellinwood

ELLINWOOD – The TMP-Marian Monarchs softball team bounced back from just the second doubleheader loss of the season with a sweep of Ellinwood on Friday in a pair of make-up games from earlier this season.

Game 1: TMP 10, Ellinwood 6
In the first game of the doubleheader the Monarchs opened the game with a four-run first inning and three Monarchs collected three hits each as they claimed the 10-6 victory.

TMP freshman Brynn Rebel led off the game with her first career homerun putting TMP up 1-0. Two hitters Brooke Koenigsman doubled in a run. Bridget Feldt and Teagan Gottschalk added RBI singles in the inning as TMP built a 4-0 lead.

The Monarchs scored a single run on a passed ball in the second inning.

Ellinwood cut the deficit to 5-3 with a run in the bottom of the second and two more in the third inning.

The Monarchs answered back with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Halle Dreiling drove in a run with a double and then Bria Wildholz singled in a run making it 7-3 TMP.

Brooke Koenigsman hit her fourth homerun of the season, a two-run homer, in the top of the sixth inning putting TMP up 9-4. A Gottschalk sacrifice fly later in the inning made it 10-4 TMP.

The Eagles got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the inning but the Monarchs went on to secure the 10-6 victory.

Brynn Rebel, Brooke Koenigsman and Bria Windholz all collected three hit each. Koenigsman drove in three runs. Koenigsman and Rebel homered.

Rebel earned the win. She allowed four unearned runs on three hits with five walks and six strikeouts.

Game 2: TMP 13, Ellinwood 1
The Monarchs offense exploded for six runs in the first inning in a 13-1 win in game two of the doubleheader.

Brooke Koenigsman doubled in the first run of the game putting TMP up 1-0. Bridget Feldt and Teagan Gottschalk followed with back-to-back RBI single to for 3-0 TMP lead.

Two batters later Raegan Allen drove in two more with an RBI single for a 5-0 lead. Molly Helget added an RBI single putting TMP up 6-0 after the top half of the first inning.

Koenigsman homered for the second time in the doubleheader putting TMP up 7-0.

Leading 7-1 the Monarchs got back-to-back singles to lead off the fourth inning when Halle Dreiling doubled home a run for an 8-1 TMP lead.

Two hitters later Koenigsman singled in a run in a 10-1 TMP lead. A Feldt sacrifice fly made it 11-1 TMP.

In the top of the fifth inning Brynn Rebel singled in a run and Brynn Rebel followed with a run scoring double putting TMP up 13-1.

Dreiling and Koenigsman collected three hits each. Koenigsman homered and drove in four runs.

Bria Windholz earned the win, She allowed just one run on five hits with five strikeouts in five innings.

TMP improved to 14-6 on the season.

They will travel to Plainville on Tuesday.
