🏈 Fourteen Tigers named to All-MIAA Football Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State had 14 players named to the All-MIAA Football Team for the 2025 season on Tuesday (Nov. 18). The Tigers had three first-team selections, one second-team selection, two third-team selections, and eight honorable mention picks.

First-team selections for FHSU were linebacker John Johnson, defensive lineman Gaven Haselhorst, and offensive lineman Josh Shaw. Johnson and Haselhorst were unanimous picks by conference coaches, while Shaw was named to the first-team on offense for the second-straight year.

Cale Cormaney picked up a second-team selection at tight end, while offensive lineman Porter Dannevik and defensive lineman Parrish Terry were third-team picks. Honorable mention selections went to quarterback Caleb Heavner, wide receiver Ryan Allen, offensive lineman Brandon Kerr, defensive linemen Jakolbi Wilson and Jalen Williams, defensive backs Michael Polley and Matthew McBride, and punter Logan Russell.

Johnson is now a three-time All-MIAA selection at linebacker, and earned first-team honors for the second time in his career. He was a first-team selection in 2023 and a second-time selection last year before returning to the first team this year. He ranked second in the MIAA in tackles with 113 for the season, and he wrapped up his career with 343 tackles, the fourth-most in the NCAA Division II era at FHSU. He also racked up 20 tackles for loss and three interceptions in his time at FHSU.

Haselhorst had a big year at defensive end for FHSU, now a two-time All-MIAA selection for the Tigers. He was a third-team selection last year before moving up to a first-team selection this year. He led the Tigers in sacks with 6.0, while ranking fourth in the MIAA. He also led FHSU in tackles for loss with 9.5. He also had a team-best three forced fumbles, while adding an interception and fumble recovery to go with 39 tackles in 2025.

Shaw is now a three-time All-MIAA selection on the offensive line and this is the second-straight year he earned first-team honors. He started all 11 games on the offensive line for FHSU, mainly at left guard, and even made a couple of spot starts at left tackle due to injuries. He helped the Tiger offense generate 3,409 yards for the season.

Cormaney wrapped up his career as a three-time All-MIAA selection at tight end. He was a second-team pick for the second-straight year. He ranked second in receiving yards (287) and third in receptions (23) for the Tigers in 2025, while leading the team in receiving touchdowns (3). He finished his career with 1,137 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Dannevik is now a two-time All-MIAA selection after a second-team pick on the offensive line last year. He started all 11 games for FHSU at right tackle in 2025, also helping the Tiger offense generate 3,409 yards for the season.

Terry is now a two-time All-MIAA selection, earning a third-team pick for the second time on the defensive line. He recorded 31 tackles for the season, including 7.0 for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He notched two forced fumbles in 2025.

Heavner is now a two-time All-MIAA Honorable Mention pick at quarterback. He led the Tiger offense in 2025 with 1,590 passing yards and 664 rushing yards. He had a hand in 14 touchdowns throughout the year, passing for nine and rushing for five. He has over 3,000 passing and 1,000 rushing yards in his career at FHSU.

Allen picked up his first All-MIAA honor as an honorable mention pick at wide receiver. He led the Tigers with 31 receptions for 291 receiving yards in 2025. He added 48 punt return yards for the season.

Kerr received an honorable mention pick on the offensive line, his first at FHSU. He started all 11 games for FHSU at center and helped the Tigers generate 3,409 yards of total offense in 2025.

Wilson was an honorable mention selection for the first time on the defensive line. In his third year on the field at FHSU, he recorded 34 tackles, 7.0 for loss, and 2.0 sacks. He also collected a forced fumble and fumble recovery, while starting all 11 games on the defensive line.

Williams received an honorable mention pick on the defensive line in his first year at FHSU. He collected 27 tackles, including 5.0 for loss, and 4.0 sacks. He ranked second on the team in sacks for the 2025 season.

Polley received an honorable mention selection as a defensive back. He finished the season with 33 tackles, a pair of interceptions, and three pass breakups. He even earned an MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week honor during the season for his game-winning field goal in overtime at Washburn as the team's emergency kicker.

McBride had a solid redshirt-freshman season to earn an honorable mention pick at defensive back. He finished with 27 tackles, an interception, and tied for the team lead in pass breakups with five.

Russell had a solid redshirt-freshman season as the team's punter. He averaged 40.1 yards per punt to earn an honorable mention selection, including five boots over 50 yards and 18 kicks that resulted in drives starting inside the 20.
