To allow for move-in time, Hays Middle School students will have an extended Christmas break. HMS will not have classes on Dec. 18, 19 or Jan. 6. Other Hays schools will be in session on those days.
The middle school is moving into the former high school building on 13th Street. The school has been undergoing renovations since May.
The middle school is planning an open house for students on Tuesday, Jan. 6, so they can see their new classrooms.

To ease traffic flow, HMS start and release times will be staggered by 10 minutes compared to the high school.
Pick up and drop off for HMS students will be on the west side of the school in the former Hays High School student parking lot, according to Principal Tom Albers.
Visitors to the school will need to enter Hays Middle School through the main entrance on the west side of the school, which was also the main entrance for the former high school. Visitors will need to check in through the office.
