MANHEIM, Pa. – Lexie Lopez of Fort Hays State Women's Wrestling is ranked in the latest NWCA Women's NCAA national poll, released on November 29, 2024. Lopez holds the No. 10 ranking at 124 in the latest poll.
Fresh off the new rankings, Lopez put together a 5-0 weekend of action by winning her match in a dual with Adams State and then going 4-0 in the FHSU Bob Smith Open to win the 124 class, alongside five of her teammates that won their respective classes. Lopez has a record of 17-4 for the season.
Lopez is the second Tiger to be ranked in the NWCA Poll this season. Nichole Moore was tabbed with the No. 8 ranking at 131 in the preseason poll, but she has been wrestling at 138 for the majority of the season in tournament action aside from a couple of appearances at 145 for the Tigers in dual action.
The Tigers are starting to catch the eyes of other national poll makers in the wrestling community. The Open Mat website ranked three Tigers in the Nov. 26 edition of their poll. Lopez was ranked No. 11 at 124, Nichole Moore holds the No. 10 spot at 138, and Jamie Laswell is No. 20 at 131. All three were champions at the FHSU Bob Smith Open this past weekend. Moore holds a record of 17-4 on the season and Laswell has a record of 17-3.
