MCPHERSON - Hays High headed to McPherson on Tuesday for their final non-conference game of the season.

#5 Hays 51 - McPherson 29
Hays trailed just once before taking the lead for good in a 51-29 win over McPherson.
The Bullpups scored the first two points of the game for their first and only lead. Hays (17-1) answered back with the next ten points and never looked back. The Indian defense held McPherson (8-10) scoreless for 7:15 of the first quarter. Each team scored in the final forty seconds. Jenna Schmeidler swished a deep three to beat the buzzer and gave Hays a 13-5 lead.
Like they did in the first quarter, McPherson scored the first points of the frame. They didn't score for the rest of the first half after making the score 13-7. The Indians scored the next 14 points of the game for a 27-7 halftime lead.
Highlights
McPherson scored the first four points out of the locker room and twice cut the Hays lead down to 16 points. Leading 32-16 midway through the third quarter Hays again pushed down on the throttle with a 10-0 run, capped by five straight from Haley LaBarge. The Indians' biggest lead came at 42-16.
Leading 42-21 heading to the fourth quarter, Hays was never threatened rest of the way. Neither team found a fourth quarter rhythm. The Indians outscored the Bullpups by one point in the fourth quarter for a 51-29 final.

McPherson 60 - #7 Hays 44
Hays never led and the score was tied just once as McPherson ended Hays High's eight game win streak 60-44.
The score was tight through the first four minutes. An 8-6 Bullpup lead with 4:30 to go in the first quarter quickly bloomed to 18-8 after the first quarter.
Hays got within single figures just once in the second quarter at 26-17. McPherson quickly took control again with six straight points to lead 32-17. A Bullpup three pointer to beat the first half buzzer closed out the first half at 35-19.
Highlights
Hays tried to spark a second half comeback on a three point play with 6:40 left in the third quarter to make the score 39-24. McPherson answered back with the next eight points, never allowing the Indians another chance.
Trailing 59-40 with six minutes left in the fourth quarter, Hays had the six possessions to get closer. Three missed shots and three turnovers to halt any potential momentum in a 60-44 loss.
