
Janice Kay “Jan” Brown, 73, passed away February 24, 2022, at Via Christ St. Francis, Wichita. She was born April 30, 1948, at Colby, to Leonard and Marie (Otter) Dickman. Jan married Charles J. Brown January 17, 1968, in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Jan, a resident of Hoisington recently moving from Great Bend, was a long-time area hairdresser and in her younger years completed flight attendant training. Jan was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and was on the hair and makeup crew for Great Bend Community Theater. She enjoyed fishing along the shoreline of Lake Wilson and could often be found curled up in a chair reading a book or working a crossword puzzle. She was also a fan of playing cards with her family and loved to sing and dance.
Survivors include husband, Charlie of the home; two daughters, Stacey Taylor of Olathe and Michelle Daubert of Great Bend; six grandchildren, Catherine “Katie” Taylor, Scott Taylor, Emma Taylor, Evan Daubert, Miya Daubert and Megyn Daubert; four sisters, Anita Thomas, Carolyn Casper and husband Jeff, Jeanne Warren, and Jolene Ladenburger; a sister in law, Bonnie Brown. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Leonard and Marie; her son-in-law, Daniel Taylor; and her nephew Chad Ladenburger.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday March 3, 2022, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 4, with Father Prakash Kola presiding, with an Altar Society Rosary prior to the Mass at 10:30 a.m., all at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Great Bend Community Theater, Golden Belt Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
