PARKER, Colo. – Brayden Huebner and Tanner Norman both homered, while Max Flowers and Braden Wilson collected three hits apiece as the Hays Larks defeated the Gameday Angels 9-4 Friday night at Double Angel Field.
The Larks take two of three from the Angels and improved to 19-2 overall and 16-2 in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League with the victory.
Hays took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on Huebner's RBI double down the right-field line and a Taber Stokes groundout.
The Angels (8-10, 7-10 RMBL) answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 2-2, but the Larks regained the lead in the third when a balk brought home the go-ahead run.
Hays added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings before breaking the game open with three runs in the eighth to build an 8-2 advantage. Both teams added solo home runs in the ninth inning.
Norman's solo shot came in the sixth inning, while Huebner capped the scoring with a solo homer in the ninth.
Starting pitcher Hank Brown (1-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out six and did not issue a walk.
Sammy Frederick tossed a scoreless seventh inning in relief. Braden Cox allowed one run in the eighth before Jaxon Ramos surrendered a run in the ninth but recorded the final outs to earn the save.
UP NEXT
The Larks return home Monday to begin a five-game homestand. Hays opens a three-game series against the Liberal Bee Jays on July 6.
