NWS: More snow, cold air on the way to NW Kansas

The National Weather Service is warning of more snow and dangerously low temperatures in northwest Kansas this week.

According to NWS forecasters in Goodland, snow is expected to develop Wednesday afternoon and continue through Thursday night. Snowfall of 1 to 4 inches is expected, mostly north of Interstate 70.

Wind chills Wednesday night and Thursday morning are predicted to dip to nearly 20 below zero in areas, with Hays projected to drop to 14 below zero. North winds could gust up to 50 mph.

In the Hays area, there is an 80 percent chance of snow Wednesday night, dropping to 50 percent by Thursday morning. New accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible before skies clear Thursday afternoon.
