James David “Jim” Keller, age 75, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Hays.
He was born July 4, 1951, in Chanute, Kansas, to Roy and Martha (Campbell) Keller.
For 53 years, Jim was the dedicated owner and president of Northwestern Office Suppliers. To those who knew him, he was far more than a business owner—he was a devoted father, family member, friend, employer, and trusted mentor. Over more than five decades, Jim built relationships across Western Kansas that extended far beyond business. He genuinely valued the customers he served, the team members who worked alongside him, and the many lifelong friendships made along the way. Northwestern Office Suppliers was built on a family tradition, and Jim’s legacy will remain an enduring part of its history.
Beyond his life’s work, Jim embraced an active lifestyle. He enjoyed playing golf at Smoky Hill Country Club, league bowling, and spending time outdoors. He particularly loved trap shooting, hunting, fishing, water skiing—especially slalom skiing—and listening to birds. Above all, Jim cherished his daughters and granddaughter, treasuring every moment spent with his family. He attended Celebration Community Church and was a proud, active member and supporter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
He is survived by three daughters: Julie Keller and her daughter, Miley Keller of Hays, Sylvia Keller of Hays, and Kursti Hileman of Denver; a brother, John Keller and wife Pam of Perry, Kansas; a sister, Roanne Stein of Salina; and a brother-in-law, Keith Deines of WaKeeney.
