Bison sculptures and cornhole games are on Thursday's agenda for the Hays City Commission.
The Ellis County members of the Heartland Community Foundation Youth Action Council are asking for permission to place up to 25 life-size fiberglass bison statues on public spaces in Hays.
The high school students have raised almost all the $125,000 needed for the public art project, which will depict the history and heritage of Ellis County in Hays, Ellis and Victoria.
Also to be voted on is a request from Arc of Central Plains for permission to proceed with Phase 3 of the ARC Park, 3300 Hillcrest.
The improvements would include two new shelter houses, a second gazebo-type picnic pavilion and nearby flower garden, along with two permanent cornhole courts with 10 total lanes and shaded dugouts.
Arc of Central Plains has raised the money for Phase 3, estimated to cost less than $500,000.
The complete Sept. 25 agenda is available here. The meeting starts at 4 p.m. in Hays City Hall, 1507 Main.
