Liberal - Hays High scored on four of their first five possessions on the way to a dominating 49-28 win over Liberal.

The first three touchdowns for the Indians all came on the ground. Holden Lind ran for 192 yards in the first half and two of those rushing touchdowns. Those scores wrapped around a 10 yard score from Braxton Basgall. All three touchdowns came in the first quarter.

Zane Viegra found Jarek Purdy for the seventh time this season for the Indians only second quarter score. The 16 yard pass and Carson Moore extra point made the score 28-0.

Liberal marched 12 plays on their best drive of the first half to score with twenty-two seconds left in the first half and a 28-6 score. 

Highlights

Hays kept Liberal at a distance for the rest of the night. A bad snap on a punt by the Redskins set up Hays for a short 28 yard scoring drive. Lind's 13 yard run made the score 35-6 midway through the third quarter.

Liberal put together two double-digit play scoring drives in the second half. Their first made the score 35-12 after a 16 play 71 yard drive. 

The two teams traded the next four touchdowns over the length of the four quarters. Lind scored twice more for a five touchdown night.

Liberal ran in a score and completed a 14 play 80 yard drive for the final score of 49-28.

Lind ran for 310 yards on 28 carries. He has rushed for 866 yards and 8 touchdowns over the last three weeks. 

Hays will host a week nine playoff game next Friday.
