Members of the public Monday afternoon and overnight have left flowers, stuffed animals and other items at Sgt. Scott Heimann patrol vehicle, which is parked in front of the Hays Police Department office on 12th Street.
Children have colored pictures among the many tribute items left as memorials.
Heimann was killed in the line of duty while responding to a barricaded subject incident on Sunday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at Gross Memorial Coliseum with Fr. Fred Gatschet officiating. See the full obituary here.
Memorials are suggested for Heimann’s children’s education with checks payable to F.O.P. Lodge 48.
