WICHITA – TMP’s Paige Schlyer earned gold in the 2A girls discus this past weekend with a throw of 129 feet and 10 inches, or her final attempt, helping the Monarchs to an eighth-place finish at the KSHSAA Track and Field Championship in Wichita.

Schlyer also earned a third-place finish in the 2A shot put.

In all, the Lady Monarchs earned six top-eight finishes.

Piper Simpson earned a second-place finish in the pole vault. She matched the school record, clearing 10 feet six inches. That marked tied the best in 2A, but the first-place finisher cleared that height on her first attempt, giving her the first-place finish.

You can find a complete list of the finals results for both the girls and boys below.

For the TMP boys, Jackson Gillespie was the only Monarchs to earn a top-eight finish.

He finished eighth in the 2A boys 100 meter dash.
