⚾ HBC 18U drops Oklahoma Championship opener

SEMINOLE, Okla. – The Hays Hammer 18U baseball team dropped their opening game of the Perfect Game Oklahoma Championships 12-4 Thursday in Oklahoma City against the Arkansas Patriots.

Hays jumped out to an early 2-0 lead scoring a run on a Dalton Dale RBI double and Jack Fields RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.

The Patriots answered with two runs in the top of the second inning and then exploded for nine runs in the top of the third taking an 11-2 lead through two and a half innings.

Carson Spray singled home a run and Derick Riggs walked with the bases loaded cutting the Patriots lead to 11-4 in the bottom of the third innings.

Arkansas added a single run in the top of the fourth on their way to the 12-4 run-rule victory in five innings.

Dalton Dale allowed eight runs, seven earned, on three hits in two innings and suffered the loss.

Dale, Fields and Spray all tallied a pair of hits in the loss.

Hays will play Precision baseball at 9 a.m. Friday.
