Kendy Saray Rubio-Gomez, 24, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 as a result t of injuries sustained in a car accident.]

Kendy was born in Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, to Juan Rubio Olguin and Maria Rubio-Gomez on June 14, 1996. When Kendy was 3 years old, she moved with her family to Nebraska. After a few years of living in Nebraska, the family moved to Texas. Kendy attended and graduated from Follett High School in Follett, Texas with the class of 2014. After high school graduation, she attended Frank Phillips Junior College and graduated with her Associate's Degree in Psychology. She attended West Texas A &M for two more years.

She moved to Hoxie in 2018 to be closer to her family. She was working on her Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate through Colby Community College and planning on applying to the Nursing program.

Kandy was a very loving and outgoing young lady. When she wasn’t working, she loved hanging out with her family and friends. She enjoyed writing stories and poems. She was an avid reader and had her nose in a book when she wasn’t with family and friends. She enjoyed doing her makeup and hair just like any other twenty-four year old. She had many ideas and dreams

Kandy was working for the Sheridan County Health Complex as a Nursing Assistant. She thoroughly enjoyed her job and co-workers. Her patients were a top priority because she wanted them to feel like they were in their home-not the hospital. She wanted them to feel important and valued and believed this would help them get well faster. She was looking forward to continuing her education and becoming a nurse.

Kendy is survived by her parents, Juan and Maria Rubio of Hoxie, Kansas; brothers, Juan Rubio, Valdemar Rubio, Anthony Rubio all of Hoxie, Kansas, and Claudio Hernandez of Mexico; sister, Dulce Soto of Hoxie, Kansas; nephew, Jaydon Calles; four nieces; and other family and friends.

A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden, Kansas with Father Carlos Ruiz Santos presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas.
