NWS: After early snow, January dry spell has arrived

Posted Jan 10, 2022 7:32 PM

After January began by dumping 4 inches of snow on Ellis County to open the year, the National Weather Service is forecasting another long dry spell for most of Kansas.

Neither rain nor snow is predicted in the area until at least Jan. 17, the NWS said, and possibly not until Jan. 20.

This week is expected to be mild, clear and calm in the Hays area, with highs in the mid-50s on Tuesday and Wednesday and nearly 60 degrees on Thursday.

A dry cold front late Friday will bring in colder air, the NWS reported, although the high temperatures Saturday and Sunday will remain in the mid- to upper-40s.
