Zita Mae Schamberger, 89, of Hoxie, KS passed away October 8, 2025, at the AmberMed- Sheridan County LTCU. She was born March 9, 1936, near Vincent, KS to Theodore J. and Rose Mary (Kippes) Munk. As a young child, her family moved to Sheridan County, KS where she attended school, graduating from Sheridan County Community High School in 1954.

Zita married Clarence Schamberger on April 17, 1956, in Hoxie, KS. From this union they raised five children: Dave, Leonard, Donald, Deb, and Sharon. She worked alongside her husband on the farm until they retired. She was a gardener, maintaining trees, vegetables, and yard, but her passion was growing flowers and sharing starts with her children and friends. She was a great cook and loved to host family dinners. She had the talent to put together a great meal with very little notice when friends or family dropped in to visit   Zita loved having grandchildren come visit and made quilts and blankets for each one. In later years, she traveled with her husband to many places and often spent part of the winter in Arizona.

Zita is survived by her children:  Dave (Lisa) Schamberger, Hoxie, KS; Leonard (Charlene) Schamberger, Sedalia, CO; Donald (Tamera) Schamberger, Hoxie, KS; Deb (Logan) Keith, Morland, KS; and Sharon (Robert) Grisolia, Olathe, KS; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Paul Munk, Menlo, KS and sisters:  Ruth (Bruce) Kratzer, Lakewood, WA, Pauline Hoff, Dallas, TX, Rosie (Dennis) Hayes, Betty (Daniel) Racette, and Agnes (Donald) Holzmeister all of Colby; brother- in- law Paul Schamberger, Hays, KS; sisters- in- law,Mary Alice Munk, Hoxie, KS and Veronica Schamberger of Denver, Co.

Zita is predeceased by her parents, husband Clarence, brothers Melvin, Lawrence, and Lester, and brothers- in- law, Donald Hoff, William Geerdes, Smoky Stover, Adolph (Lorene) Schamberger, Mike (Mary)Schamberger, Felix (Viola) Schamberger, Alvin (Ada) Schamberger, William (Rosemary) Schamberger, Daniel Schamberger and sister- in- law Kathleen Schamberger.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie, KS. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Mickey Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, KS, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family present to receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Vigil and Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
