Richard Glen Adee

Richard Glen Adee, 96, passed away Nov. 26, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Center, Ellsworth, Kan.  He was born July 11, 1924, in Lamar, Kan., to Richard Glendinning and Maude Olive (Baker) Adee.  Richard married Betty (Krueger) June 4, 1944, in Salina, Kan.  After marriage, they moved to Clay Center, Kan., then moved to Great Bend, Kan., in 1950.  Betty passed away Oct. 15, 2017.

Richard, a long-time resident of Great Bend, Kan., was retired from Hydro-Chem, previously working at Thies Packing as a meat cutter.  He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Great Bend Woodcarvers and a charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.  Richard proudly served his country during WW II, in the 41st Infantry, United States Army, obtaining the rank of Tech. Sgt.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Marie Adee of Manhattan, Julia Ann Jilek of Manhattan, Kan., Lynne Weiser and husband Don of Salina, Kan.; four grandchildren, Melissa Ivey, Jalen Byford, Laura Weiser and Drew Byford; four great grandchildren, Jadrian Henan, Joshua Weiser, Cooper Ivey and Cayson Ivey.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.B. Adee; and three sisters, Glenys LaQuay, Bernys McCoy and Ferne Johnson.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends prior to the service. Rev. Adam Wutka will preside.  Masks and social distancing are required.  Interment will follow at Rose Meron Cemetery, Longford, Kan., at 2:00 p.m., with military rites conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.  Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Bryant Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given to St. Mark Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
