KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State's Cooper Scheck has been named the latest MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week, announced Wednesday by the conference office.

The Tigers were idle this week, but Scheck opened the spring season with his second-career victory last week (March 9-10) at the 11th Annual Hillcat Classic. The senior turned in a three-round total of 6-under 210, winning by one shot. The Dodge City, Kan. native opened the event with a 1-over 73 before carding a bogey-free, 5-under 67 in the second round. After entering the final day one shot back, Scheck turned in four more birdies in the third round to post a 2-under 70 to secure the win.

He led the 48-man field with only three holes over par across the 54-hole event while also leading the way with 40 pars and ranking fourth with 11 birdies. Thirteen of Scheck's 21 rounds this season have been at-or-under par while he lowered his average to 70.9.

This is the first weekly conference honor for Scheck and the first for the Tigers since the fall of 2022 (Maddux Mills).

The Tigers will return to action at the end of the month (March 30-31) when they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. for the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational.
