HAYS – The Hays Larks were held to a season-low one run on four hits Monday as they dropped their seconds straight, 5-1 to Junction City.
Hays starter Hunter Parker matched Brigade starter Cade Phelps through five shutout innings but Junction City did all of their damage in the sixth inning. The Brigade scored all five of their runs against Trey Riggs who lasted two-thirds of an inning in relief.
Parker did not factor into the decision. He allowed just one hit in five innings with four strikeouts.
Phelps allowed one run in six innings with six strikeouts.
Hays’ only run came in to bottom of the sixth on a bases loaded walk for Palmer Hutchison.
Courtland Lawson and Grant Schmidt tallied the only hits in the game for Hays. Lawson tripled and singled and Schmidt had a pair of singles.
The Larks travel to Colorado for six-game road trip starting Thursday against the Roughriders.
