HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs scored all 16 of their runs against Hill City over four consecutive innings and picked up the sweep Tuesday at the TMP Field. The Monarchs rallied with two in the sixth then six in the seventh for an 8-7 win in game one. They tallied three in the first and five in the second and won the second game 8-0 in five innings.
Four of the Monarchs six runs in the seventh inning in game one came with two outs including Noah Gibson’s game-winning RBI single.
Nick Herrman pitched the final 2 2/3 innings in relief and picked up the win. He allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Starter Jace Wentling allowed four runs on four hits with three striketouts and eight walks over 4 1/3 innings.
Ethan Atherton had two hits including a double and drove in three runs.
Mason Robbins allowed two hits while striking out five and walking one for the win in the second game.
All five of TMP’s hits in game two were singles. Robbins, Atherton and Gibson all drove in two runs.
The Monarchs have won five of their last six games and are 16-9. They close out their season with a doubleheader at Otis-Bison Friday.
