
Darrell Blosser, 86, Hays, died Saturday, September 20, 2025 at HaysMed.
He was born February 21, 1939 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Aquila Henry and Mabel A. (Frey) Blosser. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1957 then gave two years of service through the Mennonite Volunteer Service Program. On May 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Joyce E. Sommerfeld in Hesston, Kansas. They moved to Hays in 1967 and were married 30 years before she preceded him in death on December 18, 1992. On May 3, 1993, he was united in marriage to Diana M. Robbins in Olathe.
Darrell was the manager of the ready-mix department at Allied, Inc. and even in his retirement years continued to enjoy his job as a bus driver for USD 489. He was a longtime member of the Hays Nazarene Church where he started the bus ministry, transporting children to and from Vacation Bible School, and with Joyce, was a youth sponsor. He was a member of Gideons International, North Oak Community Church, and loved singing with the Kansas Mennonite Men’s Chorus, Inspirations Gospel Quartet, and most recently with the 4given Quartet. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan, liked model trains, playing fastpitch softball, coaching high school fastpitch softball in Hesston, and listening to southern Gospel and Barbershop music.
Survivors include his wife Diana of Hays, his daughter, Valerie Juillerat and husband William of Larwill, IN, three sons, Lonnie Blosser and wife Amy of Maysville, KY, Rick Blosser and wife Joni of Hutchinson, and Jonathan Robbins and wife Autumn of Hays, his sister, Elaine Stuckey and husband Jay of Fort Wayne, IN, 11 grandchildren, Brandon Blosser and wife Megan, Nikki Blosser, Whitney White and husband Ryan, Courtney Stanton-Shaw and husband Marshall, Conner Blosser and wife Katherine, Carly Blosser, Caley Blosser, Mason Robbins, Jack Zeller, Barron Robbins, and Brielle Robbins, 10 great grandchildren, one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, and two brothers, Elvin and Laverne Blosser.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at North Oak Community Church with Pastor Will Haworth and Pastor Lonnie Blosser officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Mount Hermon Cemetery in Paradise. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until service time on Thursday at the church.
