Leroy P. Jacobs, age 82, of La Crosse, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, June7, 2022, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas after a brief illness. Leroy was born on September 20, 1939, at La Crosse to Casper and Mary (Schmidt) Jacobs. He was united in marriage to Wilma Penka on January 13, 1958, at Liebenthal, Kansas. Leroy farmed near La Crosse and raised cattle his whole life, and worked as Parts Manager for Dechant Motors in La Crosse for over thirty years. He was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse, and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2970 at La Crosse. Leroy loved antiques and collectibles.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma L. Jacobs of La Crosse; two sons: Kevin (& Susan) Jacobs of Irvine, California, and Randy (& Lisa) Jacobs of Scott City, Kansas; two daughters: Michelle Higgins of Lenexa, Kansas, and Lori Jacobs (& Harry Bizzell) of Salina, Kansas; four grandchildren: Caden Jacobs, Azure Miller, Jeremy Jacobs, and Zach Higgins; eight great-grandchildren: Kade Miller, Kinley Miller, Kase Miller, Micah Jacobs, Lily Jacobs, Elijah Jacobs, Judah Jacobs, and Kohen Jacobs; one brother Jerry (& Kathy) Jacobs of Hays, Kansas and one sister Mary Lou Warren of Wichita, Kansas; nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Celestine “Celly” Jacobs, Eugene Jacobs, Virgil Jacobs, Daniel Jacobs, Ralph Jacobs, and William “Bill” Jacobs; and five sisters: Leona Leiker, Albina Birney, ElenoraHolzmeister, Louise Besperat, and Viola Dreher.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at St. Michael’s Church with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 PM.
