🏃‍♀️ Two Tigers women earn All-Region, FHSU seventh at regionals

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Fort Hays State women's cross country team placed seventh out of 31 teams at the 2023 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships Saturday morning, with a pair of runners earning All-Region Honors. Regan Hodsden was fifth overall, locking in her trip to the DII National Championships for a second-consecutive year, while Jaycee Vath finished 13th to also earn a spot on the All-Region podium.

Hodsden picked up All-Region accolades for a second-consecutive year, placing fifth overall with a personal-best time of 20:55.2 after finishing 15th one year ago. Vath added All-Region honors to her trophy case alongside All-MIAA honors earned earlier this season after she completed the six-kilometer track in a personal-best 21:13.4.

Darian Hudgeons placed 27th, crossing the line in 21:42.7. Abbye Hudson was 93rd overall, traversing the course in 23:00.3, while Hattie Lukert rounded out the Tiger top five in 128th with a time of 23:30.2.It was the first time the women's team picked up multiple All-Region honors in a single season since 2017.Winona State ran away with the team title, totaling 52 points after placing five runners inside the top 25, including individual champion Lindsay Cunningham with a time of 19:33.3.

The Tigers will find out Monday if any other individuals are selected at-large to join Hodsden at the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be held on November 18 back at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Mo.
