Karen S. Bogner, 82, died Thursday, April 18, 2024, at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born January 5, 1942, in Cimarron, Kansas, the daughter of Charles & Allene (Helsel) Reimer.

Karen grew up on the family farm near Kalvesta, Kansas. She attended Kalvesta schools before attending and graduating from Cimarron High School. Karen then graduated with a business degree from Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas. On June 10, 1961, she married Richard J. Bogner in Ingalls, Kansas. They lived in Dodge City before moving to Garden City in 1971, where they have lived since. Karen worked most of her life as a bookkeeper. She worked for the sale barn in Garden City, Buffalo Industries, Continental Energy, and for their family business Bogner Oil Field Service. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City and enjoyed spending her time sewing, gardening, flowers, yard work, dancing, bowling, playing bridge, and going to the casino. She also loved socializing with her friends and spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children Charlene Bigley of Oklahoma City, OK, Jake & wife Sally Bogner of Yukon, OK, & Paul & wife Stephanie Bogner of Garden City, KS; a brother Dean Reimer of Cimarron, KS; five grandchildren Jennifer & husband Brandon Kornele, Tara Jones, Kristen & husband Lance Schwandt, Kimberly & husband Ryan Harp, & Jeffery & wife Josie Bogner; a step-grandson Jason Bigley; eight great-grandchildren Kaden Kornele, Kole Kornele, Kane Kornele, Paityn Jones, Avarie Jones, Blakely Morgan, Madeline Morgan, & Ross Harp; and one step-greatgrandchild Jaylynn Bigley. Karen is preceded in death by her husband Richard who died on April 5, 2022. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother Edward Reimer; a son-in-law Robert Bigley; and a great-grandson Bennett Morgan.

Vigil service and Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Tim Hickey and Fr. Jacob Schneider as Celebrants. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
