Ireeta Ubben

Ireeta Ubben, 92, of Phillipsburg, KS passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on December 14th, 2022, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS.

Ireeta was born on May 2nd, 1930, to Elizabeth and Raymond  Baughman. She grew up on a farm in Peabody, Kansas, and worked at the family restaurant during highschool.

Ireeta met Wayne Ubben while directing traffic as part of an initiation for a school club. Later he told her he knew right then and there he was going to marry her. The two were married on April 28, 1950. While Wayne was attending college on a football scholarship at WSU. Wayne’s job brought them to Phillipsburg KS where he coached and taught school, while Ireeta cooked and brought in ironing. They raised 4 kids. Susan and (Harvey) Jansonius, Bradley and (Becky) Ubben, Tom and (Sue) Ubben and Richard and (Brenda) Ubben.

Ireeta never met anyone that she could not befriend and mother too. She was the neighborhood mom and grandma to so many. She was active in the community working at the Thrift store and eating at the bakery or traveling with the Fabulous 5 (Loretta, Carol, Sandra, Gwen and Ireeta)

Ireeta was predeceased by her husband Wayne Ubben, son Bradley Ubben, granddaughter Jamie Jansonius, siblings Dick Baughman, Jim Baughman and Judy Hale, and her parents. She is survived by her children Tom and Sue Ubben of Laramie, Wyoming, Becky Ubben of Hutchinson, Kansas, Susie and Harvey Jansonius of Hays, Kansas, Richard and Brenda Ubben of Wichita, Kansas along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jessica, Eddie, Christian and Chase Brooks Saint George, Kansas. Jayne, Parker, Roselyn and Foster Loghry Grand Island Nebraska. Andrew, Brittany, Nora, Elsie and Tucker Ubben Indian Hills, Colorado. Kandy, Josh, Avery and AJ Gooch Hutchinson, Kansas. Stacey, Chris and Colter Harvey Laramie Wyoming. Andrew and Grace Hauff Wichita, Kansas. She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, at 11:00 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg, With Rev. David Manyara officiating.  The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook Page.
