Velma Jean Maxwell, 83, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died May 14, 2020, at The Gardens Nursing Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

Jean was born on October 11, 1937, in Gorham, Kansas, the daughter of Herbert and Lydia (Dreiling) Hammersmith. She grew up in Gorham and graduated from Gorham High School.

She was an RN and retired from St. Francis Hospital located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She loved flowers and gardening, sewing and quilting, and dancing.

Surviving family include, 3 daughters Linda, Lisa, and Laura; her brother Gary Hammersmith and his wife Linda; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A small service and burial of the cremains will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Gorham, Kansas.
