Craig Allen Fischer, age 71, passed away March 8th, 2025 at St Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO surrounded by his family.

He was born November 8th, 1953 to Leroy and Phyllis (Baker) Fischer, in Great Bend, KS. Ornery from the very beginning, Craig seemed to love nothing more than to stir the proverbial pot with the largest stick he could find, often at the expense of his older brother Harold and younger brother Marc. Almost every topic of conversation could lead to a story about some shenanigans Craig had caused.

Craig graduated from Great Bend High School in 1971, and after a few jobs, found a lifetime career joining his father at Fanshier Corrosion Service south of Great Bend, KS. Over the next two decades, he rose to take his father’s place as company foreman. Then on April 1st, 2000 Craig decided to go into business for himself and opened the doors of Cathodic Systems Co. LLC, quickly establishing it as one of the premier cathodic protection businesses in the state. He continued to be the owner/operator until the time of his death. Craig believed that the best way to end a hard day of work was with a rib-eye steak and a red Bud Light in a frosty mug with friends and family. And as proud as he was of his work, he was even more proud of his kids and grandkids, possibly without even knowing how much he helped to raise them the right way. And while not a religious man, Craig did have a special relationship with God, often “speaking” to him on a daily basis.

Survivors include his daughter Beki Fischer of Ellinwood, KS and sons Joshua Fischer (wife Stephanie) of Hutchinson, KS and Andrew Fischer (wife Kristy) of Ellinwood, KS; grandchildren Isaak Fischer, Jake Fischer, and Owen Fischer; brother Marc Fischer (wife Michelle) of St John, sister-in-law Diane Fischer of Seward, KS and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as close as family.

There will be no viewing, as it was Craig’s wish to be cremated. In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 3rd, 2025 at noon at the Fischer Farm, 680 SE 70 Rd in Ellinwood, KS. Memorials may be given to the HaysMed nursing staff in care of the HaysMed Foundation, either directly or through the family.

Until then, raise a Bud Light and remember a story that brings a smile to your face. We all know he is doing the same.
