Leland G. “Jack” Harwood, age 76, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Hays Medical Center. He was born October 31, 1943, in Naponee, Nebraska, to Wayne and Ella (Bedore) Harwood. Leland attended Hays High and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. On April 12, 1977, he married Kerry Pfannenstiel in Hays.
Leland was a retired US Army MSG. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays.
He is survived by his wife, Kerry of Hays; a daughter, Katara Harwood of Colorado; two brothers, Jay Harwood of Grand Junction, Colorado and Keith Harwood of Great Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon Harwood and Chester Delaine Harwood; a sister, Carol M. Binder; three nephews, Dale Leon Harwood, William Howard McCullough and Roy Chester Binder; in-laws, Francis N. and Rita M. Pfannenstiel.
Funeral services will be 10 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2020 with a rosary service at 9:30 AM all at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 1805 Vine Hays, KS. Private family inurnment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hays. Military Honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor Guard will take place at the church following services.
